Cleveland Triathlon Club 2014 Grand Prix Series Roundup
On 16th November at our AGM the top triathletes in the club will be recognised and awarded prizes.  It would be really good if we had a big turnout from our members to witness this occasion and to have their say in the running of the club.
Kath Blakey scored more points than any of the other ladies and won the 50-59 category from Kay Stokes with Anne Robson third.  Tricia Bell had a great season beating most of the younger athletes   in the events she entered.  Tricia won the 60-69 age group pushing Sandra Main into second place.
Carol Murray triumphed in the 40-49 age group with Angela Ackerley second.  This is a reversal of last years 1-2.  Jen Milsom was not in the running until late September but her Ironman Majorca result promoted her into third place.  Katie Scott won the 20-39 age group followed by Rebecca Kirton.
David Peacock had the highest score of anyone this year and in the process won the 20-39 age group.  Mark Dawson was second and David Cole third.  Mark Young won the 40-49 age group again this year, followed by the Daves, Moody and Murray.
Tony Main won the 50-59 category again this year with Joe Foley second and Paul Hutchinson third.  Normal service resumed in the 60-69 age group with Dick Hatfield winning after last years second place..
Juniors Paige McLeod and Callum Dack both completed adult events this year and deserve a special mention.
The final standings for all members can be viewed by the link above.  Prizes will be awarded to the first three in each age group at the Annual General Meeting.

Thanks to Joe Foley for yet again doing an excellent job with the Grand Prix! added 05-11-14

Grand prix - The Rules!
There are a lot of new members in the club who may not know about our grand prix series, and as we have tweaked the rules a bit then we thought it best to clarify matters:

  1. Points are awarded on the basis of your finishing time with respect to the winning time both male and female.
  2. Points scored in ironman events are doubled.  This is in recognition of the huge time and energy commitment that this requires, and the fact that this makes it much more difficult to fit in “normal” events.   The ironman does not have to be local or even in the UK.  All we ask is that you enter as a member of Cleveland Triathlon Club and you provide details of the race and the results.
  3. Your best five results in the season count towards your final score.  The top three in each age group will qualify for prizes that are usually awarded at the AGM.
  4. To qualify for a prize you must have completed a minimum of three events.

If you are entering (or have entered) a local event that is not currently listed on the grand prix schedule and you want it to be included then please drop us an e-mail for consideration. added 30-04-14

  IMPORTANT: Club Membership
Now the membership is up and running can you all make sure you have renewed your membership, to continue to receive subsidized swimming sessions. Please also make sure that you have the correct e-mail address and phone number in case we need to contact you about pool closures etc.
It is a condition of membership within Cleveland Triathlon Club that ALL members marshal one of our events. Year after year it is the same people turning up to help, many of whom are not even club members. We would appreciate that once you have made your selection for the event you are willing to marshal you honor that commitment. Please be considerate to the event organisers who already have a hard enough job to do with out being let down at the last minute.
The cost of membership and entry fee's for events are kept low because of voluntary helpers, if we have to start paying for marshals the membership and event entry fees will increase.
