Cleveland Triathlon Club achieve Star accreditation

Regional Development Officer, Damien Smith is proud to announce that Cleveland Triathlon Club are the first club in the country to achieve STAR club accreditation. The scheme is a club development initiative for Senior Triathlon clubs. It has been developed in consultation with clubs around the country, including Cleveland, and is based around the very successful Clubmark scheme launched for Junior Clubs in 2002. To gain the accreditation clubs must fulfil criteria in the following areas of Club Management, Coaching & Competition, Equity & Ethics and Health & Safety.

During 2003 with the arrival of the clubs junior section, Cleveland Triathlon club pursued and were successful in obtaining the Club Mark award in association with Sport England and British Triathlon.

Cleveland Triathlon Club were one of the first clubs to achieve Junior Clubmark in the country and are now the first club to achieve the senior Star Club accreditation. Sandra Main (The North East's Regional Volunteer of the Year 2003) is the secretary for Cleveland Triathlon Club and has been the driving force behind both the clubmark and STAR accreditation with support from Jen Milsom (Junior Club coordinator) and other club members.

Cleveland's commitment to Triathlon is evident in their proactive approach to club development and their commitment to developing triathlon both locally and regionally for seniors and juniors alike.
