Thank you for your entry to the 3rd Cleveland Steelman Triathlon. The event will be held at Ellerton Water Park, Scorton, on Saturday 5th July 2008, to start at 10:00am promptly. May I take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the event. Registration Registration will open on Friday 4th July between 6pm-8pm and then will be reopened on Saturday 5th July 8am-9am. To prevent any delays on the day of the race we recommend where possible you register on the Friday evening. At registration competitors will receive a t-shirt, a swim cap, two race numbers and a timing chip, the race numbers and chip MUST be returned at the end of the race or you will be charged £10 for replacements. Please ensure you wear the timing chip on your ankle otherwise you will NOT get any times. The chip is not required for the swim section however it is entirely a personal choice whether you wear it for the swim or put it on in transition. If you have never been to a chip timed event before and are unsure how to attatch the chip to the ankle band please ask and we will be more than happy to show you. If you decide to retire from the race at any point please hand your chip in before you re-enter transition so that we don't have to scratch our heads and weed you out of the results with your super fast times. A race briefing will take place at 9:30am to inform competitors of any updates etc which need to be brought to your attention, please make sure you attend. Please note: If you are not a BTA member you will be required to pay £3.00 at registration for a day license. Swim The swim will take place in Ellerton Lake it will be two laps clearly marked out by buoys. Wet suits are mandatory. Cycle The cycle route is two laps. Go through Scorton then turn left towards Northallerton, go past the turn to Ellerton Water Park on lap 1 and continue on to lap 2, when you have completed lap 2 turn right towards the Water park, and dismount at the marked line and make your way into the transition area. Run The run route is two laps. Click here for route map. Proceed out of the transition area; you will be directed, take the same road as the bike course, at the end of the road turn left towards Scorton, take the next left hand turn to Ellerton, travel along a track for about a mile then turn left through a gate onto the coast to coast route, continue along the river to the turn around point, where you MUST shout you number to the marshal. When you have completed your second lap make your way into the marked finish area. General Please be aware that this is a BTA sanctioned event and there rules must be adhered to at all times. The cycle and run routes will be marshaled and sign posted but it is recommended that you also study the enclosed maps to get a rough idea of the course. We advise that you bring plenty of drinking water as there is NON available at the venue. If you hand in a drinking bottle with your number clearly marked on it, it will be taken out on the run course. Results will be sent out in due course if you provided a stamped addresses envelope. The results will also be posted on the club web site, www.clevelandtriathlon.co.uk. We would appreciate your patience in getting the results verified at the end of the race. There are camping facilities available at the event site for a small charge, there are some basic amenities including toilets and showers, however drinking water is NOT available. You are not required to book the camp site in advance, just come along with your tent. Feel free to bring a BBQ for the Friday or the Saturday night. Please ensure that you keep the site tidy and any litter is disposed of thoughtfully. Please read all of the above information carefully.
